Gujarat government announces 2016 agricultural trade policy

The government of Gujarat today announced a new Comprehensive Agricultural Enterprise Policy-2016 which aims to strengthen the entire overseas farm value chain.

Some of the features of this policy are as follows:

– 25% of the project cost subsidy up to Rs 50 lakh to set up, expand, diversify, modernize the agro-food unit.

– 25% of the project cost subsidy up to Rs 500 lakh for the cold chain, the food irradiation plant, the packing station, the food park, etc.

– 25% of the project cost subsidy up to Rs 250 lakh to set up a primary treatment center, a collection center in rural areas.

– Interest assistance of 7.5% on the term loan within the limit of Rs 150 lakh maximum for a period of five years to set up an agro-food processing unit, its expansion, diversification and modernization.

– 7.5% interest on the term loan up to the limit of Rs 400 lakh for a period of five years to set up an infrastructure project for the agro-food sector such as a refrigerated warehouse with controlled atmosphere , a food irradiation plant, a packing station, a food yard, a reference van, etc.

– 1% additional interest aid for SC / ST / Divyang / Women entrepreneurs and young entrepreneurs under 35 years old.
